The Adele Grage Cultural Center presents Mary Pratt as January’s Featured Artist.
It was in the seventh grade our teacher had us draw Christmas scenes on the window, and I was hooked. Drawing everyone that came to the house for Wednesday Night Boxing. My father’s friends would take my little drawings home and I was proud.
You sometimes have to put your art on the back burner, working and being a mom, but when you retire you look for that forgotten something. A good friend took me to Pablo Painters, a senior painting group at Pablo Towers, and I grew from there. I learned about blind drawing, proportion, color, and drawing the human body, which made me feel like I was back in Biology class.
A special thank you to Mrs Betsy Lewis, who told Adele Grage Cultural Center about me, Art Instructors the late Gene Barber, Sara Barber Good, Romey Casaras, and Linda Olsen. All wonderful artists in their on right and all have that special love for teaching which makes them extra special too.
