The Promise to Kate Foundation, www.promisetokate.org, will host an art exhibit with silent auction at the Adele Grage Center during the month of October. Some of the artists participating in this exhibit are Randy Rhodes (Jacksonville, FL), James O’Brien (Jacksonville, FL), Jennifer Graham (Jacksonville, FL), Annelies Dykgraaf (Jacksonville, FL), Ivan Shaping Stars (Spain), Professor Hinson (FSCJ, South Campus), Lucie Sterbova (Czech Republic), Jayda Willis (Kill Devil Hills NC), Liz Bryant (FSCJ, South Campus), and Karen Wheeler (Nevada).

After learning their daughter Kate had a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy(DM), Elizabeth and David Conte created the Promise to Kate Foundation and began a dedicated journey to help fund invaluable DM research with expert, Dr. Tetsuo Ashizawa at the University of Florida, fund programs and equipment for Wolfson Children’s Hospital (WCH), and provide valuable, current information to DM families, giving hope and the best possible life to Kate and other DM patients.

In the past five years, Elizabeth and David have become a valuable source of information to others in Florida and the DM community as they know this endeavor is not only about their own family but for the greater good of our community. Promise to Kate has already disbursed over $100,000 to these organizations in its short time as a foundation. Our goal is to keep our money local to provide a worldwide impact.
